Future Developments

The NSW Department of Public Works has recently prepared the “Crescent Head Sewerage Effluent Management Strategy Options Report”  (DPWS 1998) which provides a number of different options for future disposal of sewage effluent. A ‘no ocean outfall” is not considered a viable option despite community preference for this option. All options involve augmentation to include disinfection using UV light. Variable levels of reuse were also considered (DPWS 1998). The preferred option includes the continued use of the existing ocean release (MHL1001 1999).
